In this typical Southeast Heights front yard, the homeowners wanted to create a more usable outdoor space. The yard faces south, and the very large tree provides a nice shady spot in the summer, as well as allows the sun to warm the space in the winter.
A few of the challenges in this yard include: existing bermuda grass, deep dense shade and invasive tree roots. They want to update the front walkway and plantings, while also providing some privacy with a courtyard wall but with the overall design to be gracious to the street.
The owners have decided to do most of the
installation work themselves, with the help and guidance of one of their friends, who is an experienced landscaper. This will allow their budget to go further and let them afford some special
details they have in mind. With the new landscape design completed, the construction begins….
