The front courtyard of this North Albuquerque Acres Mediterranean style home serves as the main outdoor space. The owners wanted the landscaping to match the style of the house, so brick designs were incorporated into the concrete, we utilized Mediterranean style plants like lavender and rosemary and created an allee of flowering pears as you enter the courtyard.
In the front yard, per the engineers plan, there was a large cobblestone retention pond that needed to be screened from view. Grasses were an apt solution as they gladly drink up any extra water, plus they add some nice movement to the landscape. The result resembles a lush bog, something not seen often in Albuquerque.
