Plant of the Month Fall 2015

Autumn Joy Sedum

Sedum ‘Autumn Joy’

As most plants are slowing down in the lateautumn Joy Sedum
summer garden, Autumn Joy Sedum starts its show. Its green succulent leaves become a back drop for its showy broccoli-like flowers that start out a pale pink and slowly evolve to a russet color by early fall. This colorful display looks especially smashing with grasses and fall blooming asters.

Autumn Joy Sedum is likely one of the easiest plants to grow and it has the benefit of looking good all the time whether in flower or not. It will grow to 24” x 24” with the clump expanding each year. It prefers full sun to partial shade, is drought tolerant and has a medium growth rate. It also attracts bees and butterflies to the garden.
